The Activity of the Operational Oceanography Group (GOO) is mainly devoted to the forecast of the seas around Sardinia and of the central Mediterranean area for a correct management of the marine environment.

The operational oceanography can be defined as the activity of systematic and long term routine measurements of the seas, their interpretation and the rapid dissemination of operational products (hindcast, nowcast, forecast). Two 5-day forecasts are available visualising daily mean forecast fields and are updated once a week (every Wednesday).
